Mechanical breakdown insurance (MBI) covers the cost of repairing your car if you have a mechanical or electrical failure.
Our cover is comprehensive and includes all parts and labour, AA road service and 24/7 breakdown assistance, towing, accomodation and rental car costs for out of town breakdowns.

Right to cancellation
If you are not completely happy with the cover provided, you may cancel by giving notice of cancellation within 14 days from the date of agreement. This is provided you have not made a claim under the policy.
On cancellation we will refund any premiums you have paid.
Level of cover
Up to $6,000 of cover is provided for each claim made. Claims can be made up to the market value of the car.
Stand down period waived
Purchase an MBI through Cartopia and you'll be covered from the moment you receive the car.
No stand down period applies and there is no requirement to have the car serviced immediately
Subject to the terms and conditions of the policy, and included in the claim limit of the policy, we offer the following additional benefits:
Accommodation: In the event of an insured mechanical breakdown we will reimburse you the reasonable costs of accommodation provided that the mechanical breakdown occurs more than 100 kilometres from your normal residence. The maximum payable is $150 per day with a maximum total benefit of $300 for each and every claim.
Car Hire: In the event of an insured mechanical breakdown we will reimburse you the reasonable costs of hiring a substitute car provided that the repair of the vehicle by an authorised repairer exceeds 8 consecutive hours. The maximum payable is $150 per day with a maximum total benefit of $300 for each and every claim.
Consumable Items: We will pay the reasonable costs of any consumable items that require replacement as part of normal vehicle servicing not covered by this policy if they are required in relation to a mechanical breakdown covered by this policy.
